One Soggy Halloween ~ 28/52 ~

[Joining Bella Cirovic at 52 Photos Project - Week 28:  Celebrate]

Halloween celebrations began last weekend when my little pirate went to his first costume party.  After that we carved pumpkins, saving some seeds for roasting and planting.  And we hung the hand-made skeleton on the door.  Then last night we filled the candy bowl and lit the jack-o’-lanterns.  Ready.  Ready for halloween.  Not the rain.

We stepped out into the torrential rain.  The kind of rain that bounces off the pavement.  We ventured to the local community garden {my most treasured halloween tradition} to see the individual plots all decorated.  Some spooky, creepy and scary.  Others light and whimsical.  Always a treat, even when mother nature adds bucket loads of water to the evening.

Back at home, our soggy jack-o’-lanterns did manage to light the way for the handful of children that braved the weather and made it to our door.  Neighbours seemed extra generous on this dark, wet, blustery night, so my pirate returned from a quick trip through our townhouse complex with his bag almost full of candy treasures.  Kitkat bars included {seven to be precise}, the one candy he had so hoped for.

I hope yours was a Happy Halloween, with not so much soggy, and just the right amount of spooky.  Though I have to admit, the weather did add an element of wonder.full to the evening.
